This 10-acre garden was created by Mr. and Mrs. Irving over the last 20 years. It is located on a rocky promontory near the centre of Saint John NB. Changes undertaken to the original design included new planting bed layouts, introducing three marker rocks at the property entrance, redesigning entrance/arrival walkways, landings and curbs, and screen planting along the property boundary. The harshness of the coastal climate dictated extensive use of native plant materials together with masses of rhododendrons, hardy perennials, vibernums, dogwoods, hydrangeas, yews and junipers to create a naturalized context for the clients "west-coast" style residence.
