This modern version of an "English Countryhouse" is straddled by an ancient grove of 80-foot-high White Spruce and is nicely tucked into the the edge of a forested creek valley, which at first glance was just begging for a lush woodland garden. The front and side entrances were framed with arbour and lattice details consistent with English archetypes. The thresholds were covered with black slate, and the garden planting palette includes Honey Locust, Paper Birch and Dawn Redwood, these were under-planted with drifts of ferns, rhododendrons, yews, hollies, Japanese Kerria, Turtlehead and Hairy Toadlily. The two-level deck swings out into the forest in a broad arc to fully embrace the ever changing mood of nature. In keeping with the 'organic' theme of the garden the deck is accessed from below via a wrought iron spiral staircase. For more information contact us at info@renaudwebber.com.
